ONSITE3 Starts Software Support Forum for Free eDiscovery Tools

ONSITE3 has started an online software support forum (http://onsite3.com/software) for its free eDiscovery Estimator and EDRM XML Converter tools. The forum is essentially a message board which provides a place where users can share their experiences and tips regarding usage of these free eDiscovery tools.

About eDiscovery Estimator:

ONSITE3 developed an eDiscovery Estimator to assist current and potential clients in scoping the processing requirements of potential e-discovery projects and consequently the cost that may be involved in processing data for e-discovery. For a free, no obligation estimate of your next e-discovery project, ONSITE3’s eDiscovery Estimator can help determine - in real-time - the potential amount of output data likely to be processed from your CDs, Hard Drives, Tapes, or other network accessible media.

eDiscovery Estimator operates independently of eDiscovery vendor selection and is designed to ensure that no data is removed from your computer or network in the estimation process. You can use eDiscovery Estimator as often as you like at no cost.

About EDRM XML Converter:

The EDRM’s XML standard provides a universal load file format for the transfer of electronically stored information (ESI) during any stage of the electronic discovery process. ONSITE3 is compliant with this standard and supports an extensive library of other data delivery formats as well, including the ability to deliver data in custom formats to meet client unique specifications.

To assist our clients in utilizing the EDRM’s new XML load file format in conjunction with existing Concordance Opticon and other delimited text load file formats, ONSITE3 provides a free downloadable conversion tool, which fully supports the EDRM’s XML 1.0 standard.

ONSITE3’s XML Load File Converter is designed to facilitate the import and export of load files from one system or application into another during the eDiscovery process. Available as freeware, there is no cost or other obligation required in order to use ONSITE3’s XML Load file Converter.

While the tool is certified by the EDRM as compliant with the EDRM’s XML 1.0 standard, ONSITE3 assumes no responsibility or liability for any damages and/or lost or corrupted data resulting from the use of Microsoft’s .NET Framework 2.0, the EDRM’s XML 1.0 standard, or ONSITE3’s XML Load File Converter, except as required by law. In addition, it is the user’s responsibility when using ONSITE3’s XML Load File Converter to ensure any and all converted load files are complete, accurate, and otherwise suitable for the intended purpose.

ONSITE3 and Index Engines Conduct eDiscovery Survey

ONSITE3 and Index Engines are taking a short survey on eDiscovery. By completing and submitting this survey, you could have a chance to win a Bose Noise Reduction Headset.

For additional details about how to participate in our eDiscovery survey, click here.

Index Engines and ONSITE3 have also partnered to bring you the Advanced Tape Discovery™ solution. This technology allows the search of data archived on backup tape without the “noise” associated with traditional tape restoration methods.

As a member of Index Engines’ Litigation Readiness™ program, ONSITE3 can help you assess how this revolutionary technology can help your organization. ONSITE3 project managed the utilization of this technology for the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), a federal corporation created by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974. PBGC needed to perform comprehensive data indexing for 45,000 tapes containing offline data retained over a 10 year period. ONSITE3 was selected by PBGC to manage the project, enabling PBGC to speed the electronic discovery process by rapidly indexing archived data without requiring the time consuming process of full tape restoration, thus significantly saving time and money.

The buzz around this new technology has drawn a lot of interest from other corporations and law firms looking to minimize their burden for discovery requests involving backup tapes. A recent article published by the Association of Litigation Support Professionals (ALSP) provides some nice insight into the value and benefits that this solution can provide during the litigation process.

Technology Review: New Tape Indexing Technology May Impact eDiscovery Cost Shifting

The April 2008 edition of the ALSP Update newsletter (Volume 2, Issue 4) includes an article by Joe Howie about Index Engines‘ revolutionary tape discovery technology, available from ONSITE3 under its Advanced Tape Discovery service.

Jeff Fehrman, President of Electronic Evidence Labs (a Division of ONSITE3), is quoted in regards to ONSITE3’s utilization of the Index Engines’ technology for clients with potentially hundreds or thousands of backup tapes that need to be searched. The technology can save customers both time and money because traditionally it was necessary to restore all the data from backup tapes before searching could even begin. Now, it is possible to identify which tapes actually have relevant data and then surgically restore the required data from specific tapes. According to Fehrman, ONSITE3 has handled projects where the cost savings compared to a normal restoration procedure are in the range of 70-80 percent.

ONSITE3 Previews eView 2.0 at ABA TechShow

Features New Productive Review(TM) Process for Increased Efficiency and Greater Return on Investment during eDiscovery Document Review

Arlington, Virginia (March 11, 2008) - ONSITE3(TM), a leading global provider of litigation support and electronic evidence solutions for law firms and corporations, today announced that it will preview new review management capabilities - including workflow customization and productivity metrics - for its upcoming eView(TM) 2.0 release during the ABA TechShow, being held in Chicago, March 13-15, 2008. The new release of ONSITE3’s leading document review platform is expected to become available in late March 2008.

“ONSITE3’s new eView release demonstrates our commitment to providing clients with increasingly more effective electronic evidence solutions for better management of the risk and cost associated with complex litigation and regulatory compliance,” said Robert Ballou, chief executive officer, ONSITE3. “eView’s improved review management capabilities will allow attorney review teams to operate more efficiently and collaboratively than with other review solutions on the market today.”

“eView offers our clients many important features they need but cannot find in other review tools, such as flexible and client customizable workflow management capabilities,” said Debra Rozier, vice president of ASP services, ONSITE3. “By working closely with our clients, eView 2.0 is now set to deliver even more innovative functionality and performance that clients need for addressing their document review and repository hosting requirements.”

New workflow features that will be available in the upcoming eView 2.0 release include:

  • Highly Flexible Review Workflows: eView 2.0 enables clients to manage multiple review teams and allows for added depth in the levels of review beyond the traditional 1st and 2nd levels, extending to 3rd, 4th, 5th, and so on. This multi-team functionality can support parallel style reviews where different teams can review the same set of documents simultaneously for different kinds of issues. In addition, these workflows can be utilized in sequential, non-sequential, or bi-directional order for a fully customizable and flexible approach to the review process.
  • Improved Filtering Capabilities: Clients now have full control over what documents are included or excluded from review; this can also be customized by 1st or 2nd level review teams.
  • Improved Folder Prioritization: Clients gain much greater flexibility when assigning documents to reviewers. For example, higher priority documents can be set up so that reviewer assignments will pull from these documents first.
  • Customizable Batch Sizes: The new release permits clients to customize batch sizes for each 1st or 2nd level review team. This capability can facilitate larger batches for 1st level teams that tend to review documents more rapidly, while also providing smaller populations of documents for 2nd level teams that generally conduct more focused reviews.
  • Enhanced Tagging Template: eView 2.0 offers enhancements to the pre-defined tag template to enable clearer categorization of review calls and easier determination of which teams reviewed which documents. The release also provides the ability for reviewers to tag documents without disrupting the review workflow.
  • Expanded Productivity Metrics: We have added several new metrics and methodologies for tracking review progress across an entire project, for specific levels or teams and even down to the individual reviewer.
